: Barca Were Also Interested In Signing me

Dutch international Arjen Robben left Real Madrid for Bayern Munich about a week ago for a reputed fee of €25 million, but the winger has now made it clear that he could have stayed in Spain, too.

The former Chelsea star has sensationally claimed that arch-rivals Barcelona were also interested in securing his services. A transfer never appeared to be very much likely though.

"Barcelona were interested in signing me, too. However, I don't think that a transfer really was a possibility. Real Madrid would never have let go of me if Barcelona made a move," Robben was quoted as saying on Dutch TV-channel Eredivisie Live.

"That's all history now though. I'm very happy that I'm a Bayern Munich player now. I'm looking forward to a successful season in Germany."

El Mundo Deportivo stated earlier this summer that Barcelona president Joan Laporta was interested in bringing the winger to Camp Nou, but Barcelona supposedly never made a move for Robben due to Real's reluctance to let the Dutch winger move to the Champions League winners.
