Real Madrid are still gelling as a team and have yet to perform to their best...

Raul Albiol is confident that Real Madrid will raise their game and become the entertaining side that is being demanded, but he admits it will take some time to catch Barcelona.

The Spain international stated that Los Merengues were not at their best after the five-goal win against Xerez, only performing well in the last few minutes.

Having spent around €250 million this summer, the expectations at the club are high, and many fans want to be entertained by a team playing at a level close to that achieved by Barca.

"We’re going to play good football. We have players to do so. Barcelona have already built-up a team and it’s normal that they are more coordinated," Albiol was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"It’s difficult to keep a consistent level in every game, but we’ll manage it. We must be patient."

In midweek Madrid travel to Villarreal, and Albiol is well aware of what to expect at El Madrigal.

"It’s a difficult stadium and I've lost to them in the two last seasons while playing for Valencia. They are a dangerous side and it will be a difficult game," he continued.

"We’ll try to win right from the start because we’re only interested in notching three points in each game. It will be a good test for us."
